Hi, I'm ready to show you my work for the ZugZug Arcane challenge. I missed the challenge deadline, so I couldn't participate in the voting and feedback phase, but even so, it was a great opportunity for me to try something new.
❤️ Veronika, thank you so much for your love and support!
Guys, if you're still reading, let me tell you more about the work (‾◡◝)
The choice was between Piltover and Zaun. I chose Piltover because I thought it would be a bit easier with less chaos in the textures. But I was wrong in my own way because creating interesting patterns on large flat surfaces turned out to be even more challenging.
People were making very large assets for the challenge—characters, environments—they did an amazing job! However, I knew that by the end of the year, time might be tight with the holidays coming up, so I didn’t want to take on something too complex. That’s why I looked for a smaller-scale idea, which led me to create a workspace with a blueprint, a stone, and something that visually reflects Piltover’s style.
This time, I also decided to try baking light in Blender, and it turned out to be very useful. I really enjoyed it as part of the pipeline for hand-painted assets!
I decided to create two lighting modes. I'm really sorry that custom Marmoset shaders can't be added to the viewer, but I hope you can see magic in the video.
I also added some cool hidden details throughout the work, and I'd be happy if you explore the Marmoset viewer and find them. In general, I'd be glad to answer any questions you might have about the project!
